What does Budo mean? Budo means the 'Martial Way' or the 'Way of Combat'. Budo is not just limited to Physical technique only. Budo emphasizes on the perfection of ones whole self, being in physical technique, attitude, discipline, moral character. Which the end result is a 'Martial Artist'.

What do I have to wear for the lesson? Do I have to buy the GI (Martial Arts outfit) immediately? All you have to do is come in trousers or shorts and a simple T-shirt, without any zips, buttons or any other material that can harm you or others or damage the equipment in the Dojo. Ear-rings, rings, neck-laces and any other jewelry must be taken off before class starts. You will then buy the GI when you are convinced that you want to continue practicing Budo.

I am a very shy person, my intimidation keeps me from starting any lessons like Martial Arts because I don't want to feel humiliated because of any mistake I may make. You do not have to feel humiliated by any mistake you may make. We all make mistakes and we learn from them. No one will make fun of you, we are one big family and we all respect and help one another.

Do I have to learn any Japanese words? We give you a simple guide to basic Japanese terminology used in the Dojo, but you don't have to worry because they are very easy to learn in a short time.

I don't know how to read and I hardly know any English. I know that you give us guides to Japanese terminology and techniques. Will this hold me back in my training? Not at all. It will not keep you back in any of your training. We will help you to understand what we are doing. Practice is much more important than papers.

How many times a week do I have to come to the Dojo for classes?  That is up to you. You can attend just one lesson a week or even come for all the lessons in the week. It is preferable that you come at least twice a week. Remember the more you practice the more proficient you will get.

How are Grades achieved?  By hard work. We do have a standard Grading system which includes reasonable number of months and years of training between one grading and another, but even if you have been attending to the required time period and still are not of the required standard in technique, you will not be graded. Remember, your teachers will guide you trough out all your training and it is your teacher that knows if you are ready to step for a Grading. You are constantly examined all the time you are in a Dojo, so when you are on a grading you know that you have earned your right to be there. Train hard and you have nothing to worry about. You will get what you work for. Do not forget that your grade is in your head, not on your waist. It is very important that you are aware that this is not a race for Belts.

I am a chubby person and my brother is very skinny, we are both very short. Will this effect our training? In Martial Arts, after consistent practice, one learns to adapt for his own ability considering his age, weight and size.

Do juniors learn the same things seniors do? Yes, they learn the same things but in a safer way. Children are also given Martial Arts exercises which are fun for their own age and help them learn with their own natural process.

What kind of physical and mental fitness is involved in Budo? In every Jujutsu lesson we include approximately 15 to 20 minutes of physical fitness which includes warm up and stretching. Mentally Budo helps you to relax and to remove the bad energy from within yourself which usually accumulates from bad circumstances and everyday stress.

Will I have individual attention? Yes, you certainly will. All classes, although they are taken in groups, we teach on individual basis. Every person has his / her own individual natural progression process.
