Dai Nippon Butoku Kai - April 2008
Once again brothers Bajada Renshi, accompanied by a group of students from the Classical Budo Association Malta, have ended another trip to Japan where they attended the Third World Butoku Sai (Martial Virtues Festival). This event was organized by the prestigious Dai Nippon Butoku Kai, Japan's Premier Martial Arts Society and presided by his Royal Highness Fuku-Sosai (Vice Governor of DNBK) Higashi Fushimi Jiko, son of his Excellency the Sosai (Governor of DNBK) Prince Higashi Fushimi Jigo who could not attend due to illness.
The official Koshu Kai Budo seminar, which was held at the Kyoto Budo Center, gave the international division members a very rare and indispensable opportunity when nearly 30 very high ranking Japanese instructors of great distinctions from the Honbu conducted the training seminar of advanced teachings in different Ryu-ha of Jujutsu, Karate, Iaido, Sojutsu, Jojutsu and Kendo. Brothers Bajada Renshi together with their students had the great honor and a priceless opportunity to train under Kurumaji Hanshi of Shibukawa Ryu Jujutsu.
The Third World Butoku Sai, the main event of this international occasion, was held in the Butokuden, the hall of Martial Virtues and the oldest Martial Arts Hall in existence, built in the 8th century near the Heian Shrine in the historical city of Kyoto. During the event, hundreds of demonstrations took place on the hard wooden floor of the Butokuden. It is in itself an honor and long standing tradition in Japan to perform on a wooden floor without any protection mats. On this occasion, brothers Bajada Renshi together with their team; Kevin Enriquez Sensei, Daniel Zammit Sensei, Ramon Lautier Sensei, Oliver Mifsud Sensei, and Leigh Calleja, all official members of DNBK, gave excellent exhibitions in Classical Jujutsu as well as in traditional weapons such as Bo, Jo and Hojo. The Rensei Taikai, which took place on the following day, was also held in the Butokuden. The brothers, together with their team, demonstrated in Jujutsu, Bojutsu, Jojutsu, Hojojutsu, Muso Jikiden Eishin Ryu Iaijutsu and Seitei Iaido for this occasion.
